Festival du cinéma tchèque revient à Paris du 8 octobre au 28 octobre 2022

La République tchèque préside actuellement le Conseil de l’Union européenne. Le festival Czech-In a été fondé à l‘occasion de la première présidence tchèque, en 2009. Il est donc tout naturel pour nous de rappeler cet événement important. La sélection des films a été inspirée par la passation de la présidence entre la France et la République tchèque. La 8ème édition mettra en lumière le dialogue culturel entre les deux pays, se penchera sur les projets artistiques conjoints, sur les artistes qui ont créé où ont été inspirés par les deux pays. Le programme se compose donc principalement de coproductions franco-tchèques.
Le véritable prélude au festival sera un film musical Symphony Bizzare, réalisé par Michal Kocáb, le leader du groupe tchèque culte Pražský výběr. Il s’agit de l’enregistrement intégral d‘un concert du groupe à la O2 Arena de Prague, la soirée aura lieu en présence du réalisateur.
Le festival donnera aussi l’occasion de découvrir les films de Christian Paigneau et Joël Farges, deux réalisateurs français inspirés par le cinéma tchèque : le premier portant un regard sur la Nouvelle Vague tchécoslovaque et le second rendant hommage à l‘animateur tchèque Jiří Trnka. La funambule française Tatiana-Mosio Bongonga présentera un documentaire sur sa traversée de la rivière Vltava, filmée dans le cadre du festival Letní Letná.
Le public aura également l‘occasion de revoir l’une des premières coproductions franco-tchèque, le film d‘animation La création du monde de Eduard Hofman, réalisé en 1957. Les amateurs d‘arts visuels seront ravis de découvrir le documentaire sur la vie de la peintre surréaliste tchèque Toyen, qui a vécu et travaillé en France pendant 40 ans. Ce film clôturera le festival le jour de la Fête nationale tchèque, le 28 octobre à l’Auditorium de l’Hôtel de Ville de Paris en présence de la réalisatrice Andrea Sedláčková.
Dix films, pour la plupart inédits en France, de Václav Flegl et Jakub Voves, de Tereza Brdečková, Ondřej Provazník et Martin Dušek, de Jana Boková, Václav Kadrnka, Eduard Hofman, Roman Vávra et Bohdan Sláma seront accompagnés d‘un débat avec des cinéastes ou d’autres invités, avec l’objectif de mieux faire connaître le cinéma tchèque contemporain au public parisien. Le festival Czech- In se déroulera principalement pendant les jours de week-ends du 8, 13, 14-16, 21 et 22-23 octobre au cinéma Les 3 Luxembourg à Paris. Plusieurs projections satellites sont prévues en novembre aux dépar- tements de l’enseignement du tchèque à l‘INALCO et à la Sorbonne.
Le festival rentre dans le programme officiel de la présidence tchèque du Conseil de l‘UE, avec le soutien de la Mairie de Paris, qui lui a décerné le Label Paris Europe, et sous le haut patronage de gouvernement de la République tchèque et l‘ambassadeur de la République Tchèque en France, son excellence Michal Fleischmann avec son épouse Kateřina Lojdová.

The Czech Republic currently holds the Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The Czech-In festival was founded on the occasion of the first Czech presidency, in 2009. It is therefore natural for us to recall this important event. The selection of films was inspired by the handover of the Presidency between France and the Czech Republic . The 8th edition will highlight the cultural dialogue between the two countries, looking at joint artistic projects and artists who have created or been inspired by the two countries. Hence, the programme consists mainly of Czech-French co-productions.
The real prelude to the festival will be a musical film Symphony Bizarre, directed by Michal Kocáb, the leader of the cult Czech band Pražský výběr. It is a full-length recording of their concert in the O2 Arena in Prague.
The festival will also provide an opportunity to discover the films of Christian Paigneau and Joël Farges, two French directors inspired by Czech cinema: the former taking a look at the Czechoslovak New Wave and the latter paying homage to Czech animator Jiří Trnka. The French tightrope walker Tatiana-Mosio Bongonga will present a documentary about her crossing of the Vltava River, filmed as part of the Letní Letná festival.
The audience will also have the opportunity to see one of the first French-Czech co-productions, the 1957 animated film The Creation of the World by Eduard Hofman. Visual art lovers will be delighted to discover the documentary on the life of the Czech surrealist painter Toyen, who lived and worked in France for 40 years. This film will close the festival on the National Day of the Czech Republic on 28 October at the Auditorium of the Hôtel de Ville de Paris in the presence of the director Andrea Sedláčková.
Ten selected films, mostly unreleased in France, by Václav Fletel and Jakub Voves, Tereza Brdečková, Ondřej Provazník and Martin Dušek, Jana Boková, Václav Kadrnka, Eduard Hofman, Roman Vávra and Bohdan Sláma, will be accompanied by a debate with filmmakers and other guests, with the aim of making contemporary Czech cinema better known to the Parisian public. The Czech-In festival will take place mainly the weekend of the 8th, 13th-16th, 21st-23rd October at the cinema Les 3 Luxembourg in Paris. Several satellite screenings are planned in November at the Czech language departments of INALCO and the Sorbonne.
The festival is part of the official programme of the Czech Presidency of the Council of the EU, with the support of the City of Paris, which has awarded it the Label Paris Europe, and under the high patronage of the Government of the Czech Republic and the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to France, His Excellency Michal Fleischmann with his wife Kateřina Lojdová.

V tomto období Česká republika předsedá Radě Evropské unie. Festival Czech-In byl založen právě u příležitosti prvního českého předsednictví v roce 2009. Je proto přirozené, že tuto významnou událost chceme oslavit. Výběr filmů byl inspirován předáním předsednictví mezi Francií a Českou republikou a osmý ročník se zaměří na kulturní dialog mezi oběma zeměmi, na společné umělecké projekty, na umělce, kteří tvořili nebo byli inspirováni oběma zeměmi. Program se proto skládá především z česko-francouzských koprodukcí.
Skutečnou předehrou festivalu bude hudební film Symfonický Bizzare, který režíroval Michal Kocáb, lídr kultovní české skupiny Pražský výběr. Jedná se o celovečerní záznam koncertu kapely v pražské O2 Areně, a na uvedení bude přítomna skupina osobně.
Festival nabídne také příležitost seznámit se s filmy Christiana Paigneaua a Joëla Fargese, dvou francouzských režisérů inspirovaných českou kinematografií: první z nich se zaměřil na československou Novou vlnu a druhý vzdává hold českému animátorovi Jiřímu Trnkovi.
Francouzská provazochodkyně Tatiana-Mosio Bongonga představí dokument o svém přechodu Vltavy, který byl natočen v rámci festivalu Letní Letná.
Diváci budou mít také možnost zhlédnout jeden z prvních francouzsko-českých koprodukčních filmů, animovaný film Eduarda Hofmana Stvoření světa z roku 1957.
Milovníky výtvarného umění potěší dokument o životě české surrealistické malířky Toyen, která 40 let žila a tvořila ve Francii. Tento film uzavře festival v Den české státnosti 28. října v Auditoriu Hôtel de Ville de Paris za přítomnosti režisérky Andrey Sedláčkové.
Deset ve Francii většinou neuvedených filmů Václava Fletla a Jakuba Vovese, Terezy Brdečkové, Ondřeje Provazníka a Martina Duška, Jany Bokové, Václava Kadrnky, Eduarda Hofmana, Romana Vávry a Bohdana Slámy doprovodí debaty s tvůrci a s dalšími hosty. Našim cílem zůstává přiblížit současnou českou kinematografii pařížskému publiku.
Festival Czech-In se bude konat především o víkendech 8., 13., 14.-16., 21. a 22.-23. října v pařížském kině Les 3 Luxembourg. V listopadu je naplánováno několik satelitních projekcí na katedrách českého jazyka INALCO a Sorbonny.
Festival je součástí oficiálního programu českého předsednictví v Radě EU, za podpory města Paříže, které mu udělilo Label Paris Europe, a pod záštitou vlády České republiky a velvyslance České republiky ve Francii, Jeho Excelence Michala Fleischmanna s chotí Kateřinou Lojdovou.
